Hell has no answers. Only another descent.
You wake in a place that should not exist. There is no way out, and no explanation for how you got here. Only the ruins of a world built on suffering, and something waiting far below.
Previously known as Project: Catalepsy, Unmortal is a third-person action roguelike in 3D set in our version of the Christian Hell. A place where every soul is exactly where it deserves to be.
Including yours.
WHAT IS UNMORTAL?
Unmortal's Hell is rooted in Christian tradition and Spanish religious iconography. Instead of the stock underworld of fantasy games, it builds its own world from recognisable religious imagery, bent into something darker and more hostile.
It is a place defined by judgement and accumulated guilt. Every soul here has sinned, the past never fully stays behind you, and where you find yourself may say more about you than you'd like to learn.
You control the Dweller. Why he ended up here is unknown, and he shows little interest in finding out. Nothing suggests he belongs anywhere else, or that he is searching for answers.
Stigmata on his arms release blood, which feeds his abilities and his fight to survive. They are more than scars: they are part of what lets him face what lies ahead.
Creatures of unknown origin lurk further down, but they are not the only danger. The surroundings are hostile too, and not everything that follows you is alive.
COMBAT, ADAPTATION AND SURVIVAL
Combat in Unmortal is quick and tactical, decided by how you move and where you stand.
Slip away, change position, then strike back.
Blood abilities reshape how each run plays out.
Enemies adapt when you least expect it.
The environment fights you as hard as any creature does.
Even your own shadow can't be trusted.
Every fight asks you to watch the whole scene. Reading the situation beats fast reflexes, and hitting harder won't always save you.
THE ABYSS
Each run takes you further down the Abyss through procedurally generated levels, with bosses guarding the way forward.
One attempt is never enough. Death is permanent: when you fall, you lose your progress through the Abyss and start over. But every attempt teaches you something about the enemies, the terrain and what waits below.
Descend, die, learn, descend again.
Persistence alone won't carry you through. You have to understand the Abyss, adapt to it and survive whatever it throws at you. Every descent is one more try at going deeper into a place that promises nothing.
DEVELOPMENT
Unmortal is in development at Iberante, an independent studio. We are working towards our first public version, which we expect to have ready in 2026. It will be the first chance to try the game's combat, atmosphere and direction yourself.
We'd rather not promise more than we can deliver. The game is taking shape, and we'll share more as it does.
Steam page coming soon.
